MESSAGE SERVICE (SMS) SUPERVISOR
In
readiness for the launch of SMS, PMC is in need of a person
that will be in charge of managing SMS in the country.
Short
Message Service (SMS), which is taking the mobile world
by storm, is to be launch very soon. An immediate position in
this very specialised field is required to be filled to take
full responsibility of all the administration and technical
aspects of this service.
The
successful applicant must be:
Very responsible, reliable, reliant and self-starter.
Able to work in a team and assist in other relevant areas
as required.
Able to work after hours, meet deadlines & targets as
required by management.
Able to communicate with vendors, counterparts with SMS
operators around the World and in PNG.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The applicant will be responsible for:
Daily routine maintenance & monitoring of operational
performance of iSMSC system.
Advice and recommend solutions to enhance system performance.
Provide regular reports on system performance to management.
Perform system back-ups, schedule outage & routine
tests with CPDI prepaid platform.
Maintain spares inventory, report & dispatch faulty elements
to vendor within the maintenance contract schedule so as not
to impact grade of service.
Develop routine maintenance philosophy for the iSMSC
system.
Response promptly to any requirements from management
and or network.
Display very good administration, maintenance and troubleshooting
skills.
Work closely with other counterparts in various entities
of the network to ensure respective elements are functioning
in accordance with vendor's performance specifications.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant should be:
A diploma/degree holder in communications from a University
or a recognised Telecommunication college.
Minimum of 10 years experience with switching networking
in PNG.
Very good experience in the DMS switching is preferred.
Very good understanding of digital switching principles
and signalling protocols.
Good experience of Voice Mail systems will be an advantage.
Good knowledge of installation/commissioning in the switching
environment.
Basic understanding of mobile technology will be an advantage.

Pacific
Mobile Communications Ltd (PMC) is looking to appoint an experienced
and capable professional to the position of the Company Secretary.
Reporting
to the Managing director the Company Secretary will provide
high Level secretarial assistance to the Management of PMC,
the Managing Director and the Board of Directors, to ensure
the execution of Corporate, Board, Government and Company decision.
Incorporated
in the responsibility and role of this function are:
Provide high quality legal services to the Board and Management
Ensure Company meets all statutory obligations under the company
and telecommunications laws covering the licensing and commercial
operations.
Assist the Managing Director in ensuring Management Meetings
and function are performed effectively and efficiently.
Represent the Company on all the legal matters, including instructing
lawyers representing the Company.
Act as custodian of all corporate documents, contract lease
etc including security of the company seal.
It
is expected that the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate
leadership in Managing at high level, must have strong influence
skills, be a good communicator, qualified to practise law under
the regulations of PNG and have experience in a commercial environment
with at least 5 years exposure at senior Managerial levels.
The
company is looking for a motivated, self-starter, who has the
necessary tertiary qualifications and a track record.
An
appropriate remuneration package will be offered.
