What are the requirements of being an ISP?

To operate as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) you will require the following:-

  • Appropriate hardware and software (router, server, modems, etc).
  • These can be supplied, installed and commissioned by Local Data Equipment Suppliers.
  • Technical expertise to Operate and Maintain the above
  • A leased Data circuit between your premises and the Internet Gateway router at Boroko exchange plus a 188 rotary group for subscriber dial-up. These are provided by Telikom, who can Supply and provide you with a quotation.
  • An Agreement with Pacific Mobile Communications to supply you with bandwidth on the Internet Gateway Router. Our charges vary according to bandwidth leased and traffic carried. For example a 64 kBit/s link would have a fixed charge of K16, 073.00/month plus a traffic charge of K0.64/Mbyte. Accounts are charged based on traffic carried (Megabyte) and billed at the end of each calendar month
  • Class-C IP addresses which can be organised by PMC
